Advance HE welcomes The University Mental Health Charter

09 Dec 2019 | Advance HE Advance HE supports the call for an holistic approach to mental health higher education

Gary Loke, Director of Knowledge, Innovation and Delivery, said, “Advance HE welcomes this important work and is fully supportive of an holistic approach to mental health, making it a university-wide priority so that all students and staff may thrive. We recognise the need for safe, effective, and evidence-based support services within this, and earlier this year agreed to host the Mental Wellbeing in Higher Education Working Group, an expert network of representatives from the field of student mental wellbeing.

"Advance HE is well-placed to support institutions in their work to promote mental health through its development and other programmes. For example, this year, Advance HE has been working with 12 universities in a collaborative project on Embedding Mental Wellbeing into the Curriculum. A further group of HEIs will come together in a second iteration of the programme in early 2020; a similar online version, with an international focus, is planned for February. We are currently creating the online space to host the work of these projects."
