20 grants awarded to support innovation in UK College-Based and Small, Specialist and Independent HE

01 May 2024 | Advance HE Advance HE announces 17 institutions awarded one of its 20 new Innovative Practice Grants for UK College-Based and Small, Specialist and Independent higher education providers.

Twenty grants are awarded by Advance HE to 17 institutions for initiatives that showcase innovative practice by UK College-Based and Small, Specialist and Independent higher education providers. 

Advance HE’s new Innovative Practice Grants are designed to support UK College-Based and Small, Specialist and Independent higher education members to share good practice and impactful initiatives through case studies. 

Grants of £500 are awarded to the following successful applicants that align with one of three themes: 

Innovations in teaching and learning 

  • Barnsley College 
  • The Bedford College Group and University Centre 
  • Grwp Llandrillo Menai 
  • Hartpury University 
  • Middlesbrough College 
  • Morley College London Waterloo Centre 
  • Royal Northern College of Music 
  • St George's University of London 
  • UHI Perth 
  • University Centre Askham Bryan 
  • University of St Mark and St John 

Building inclusion and belonging 

  • Bridgwater & Taunton College / University Centre Somerset
  • Bridgwater & Taunton College / University Centre Somerset
  • Gower College Swansea 
  • Hartpury University 
  • Newcastle College University Centre 

Engaging leadership 

  • AECC University College 
  • Barnsley College 
  • Glasgow School of Art 
  • Plymouth Marjon University 

Karen Taylor, Head of Membership (Tertiary) at Advance HE, said,

Our new Innovative Practice Grants scheme is a really important new way to showcase all the great work that UK College-Based and Small, Specialist and Independent HE providers are contributing to the sector.”
