Foreword
We are delighted to share our third annual Assessment and Feedback Case Studies Compendium, which this year is an expanded four-volume edition. This collection showcases scholarship and innovative practice from across the global HE sector that has made a demonstrable positive impact on student assessment experience and outcomes. Originally presented as workshops and talks at Advance HE’s Assessment and Feedback Symposium held in November 2025, the series of case studies is aligned to the four symposia themes: creating inclusive assessment and feedback design; developing authentic assessments for an AI-enabled world; engaging students with feedback; and designing sustainable and workload-aware assessment practices.
Through these case studies, contributors share their inclusive and effective approaches and practice in a format designed to prompt reflection on current practice and initiate exploration of opportunities for enhancement at individual, school, or institution level. Each case study outlines the context and rationale behind the innovation, the approach taken, and the outcomes achieved. Authors share insights from their experiences, including lessons learned and practical guidance for colleagues seeking to adapt ideas to their own contexts, enhance learners’ experiences, and remove barriers to attainment.
