At Deakin University, the Teaching and Learning Conference has been established over many years and has continued to evolve successfully in scale and purpose, necessitating a more intentional approach to conference design.

This case study demonstrates the design of a university teaching and learning conference as inclusive academic development. It examines how aligning themes and keynotes with institutional priorities, embedding distributed leadership to support emerging leaders, offering multiple formats for diverse scholarship, and designing for inclusivity and cognitive manageability enabled collective academic development.
