Diversity of governors in higher education 2024

This report is the third iteration of biennial reports by Advance HE, detailing the composition of higher education (HE) governing bodies. 

Studies show that governing bodies that reflect the characteristics of an institution’s staff and student body are better placed to represent the needs and concerns of those staff and students. A greater diversity in governing bodies will lead to more inclusive and better-informed decision making.

It is essential, therefore, to review the diversity of governing bodies to consider areas of progress and areas where improvements still need to be made to achieve diverse and representative governing bodies in higher education institutions (HEIs).
