The University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) is a regional tertiary university partnership established in 2011 encompassing the University and ten partner colleges and specialist institutions covering the Highlands and Islands, Moray, Perthshire and Argyll. UHI, a charitable company also referred to as the Executive Office, is also the Regional Strategic Body for academic partners assigned to it by the Scottish Government under legislation and acts as a funding body with associated responsibilities.
UHI commissioned Advance HE to undertake a routine cyclical review conducted five years after the previous review in 2017.
The scope of the review was to evaluate the current governance arrangements of University Court and its committees and to offer recommendations and suggestions for further improvement, with consideration given to the Statement of Primary Responsibilities, the Scottish Code of Good HE Governance and the HE Governance Act 2016.
