A step into the future: AI in classroom teaching

‘A step into the future’ explores the potential of AI and virtual reality (VR) technologies to personalise student education and career pathways to solve global sustainability challenges. The project was funded by Advance HE’s Collaborative Development Fund 2024-25 under the ‘Designing Education for the Future’ theme.

It was led by the University of Hull in collaboration with industry partners INIT Creative between January - June 2025. The project explored current and potential approaches to enhance teaching through AI and VR technologies using in-person workshops at the University of Hull. The findings aim to support educators with insights on integrating AI into classroom-based teaching, particularly related to personalised learning experiences.

The outputs of the project include a case study report, a teaching guide, results from an educator survey and a roadmap for those wishing to embed AI in their teaching practices. There are also two videos which show how the University of Hull integrated AI and VR in the classroom and the impact on the students that took part.

Advance HE members can download the outputs and watch the videos below.
