Member Benefit Global Themes 2024-25

Supporting and working collaboratively with our members to meet key areas of challenge.

In the early part of 2024, we consulted across our membership to understand the major challenges facing institutions. We’ve heard clearly that our members are facing significant pressures and demands – from delivering and maintaining excellence in the student experience, to securing long-term financial sustainability. We also know that many of our members are, or will be, implementing major transformation programmes across their operations.

Our 2024-25 member benefit offer has been developed in direct response to what we have heard. It will bring you and your staff the support and advice you need to position yourself at the forefront of educational innovation and excellence, with help to grow and develop your institution’s leadership capacity, and capability to drive change and shift to new models in a sustainable and inclusive way.

Member Benefits 2024-25

Governing and Leading Transformation

In the challenging operating context in which many institutions find themselves, developing the capabilities to lead, design and deliver education that is both excellent and efficient is going to be key. We have also heard a clear ask from the sector for us to play a leading role in governance reform. Achieving successful transformation presents unique challenges to both leadership teams and governing bodies, which this area of our support will address.
Whether driven by transition to new operating models, financial pressures or strategic change, many leadership teams and governing bodies are entering a period in which delivering successful transformation will be a key focus. This member project will support colleagues from Heads of School to Executive teams and governors to succeed in their role of reshaping higher education.

Securing Student Outcomes

Student success remains at the heart of higher education. As student needs and regulatory expectations change, institutions need to be able to adapt to secure the best outcomes for their learners. This includes anticipating and responding to increasingly complex and challenging demands for student support and effects on student wellbeing. This area of support will provide a range of practical, evidence-based resources designed to support the success and resilience for your students and the change required in member institutions.

This project will support you to consider where and how student outcomes can be secured – whether it’s improved student retention or better student satisfaction. The project will draw in evidence of best practices and effective transformation, providing a roadmap for your institution to shape better outcomes and an improved learning experience for students.

Designing Education for the Future

Advance HE member institutions are united in their ambitions to provide educational excellence and are seeking ways this can be maintained and enhanced when resources are constrained. This area of support will explore new pedagogical approaches and help members realise the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) to contribute to effective and efficient education.

Securing success in your educational offer means having a portfolio which is high quality, recruits successfully and is delivered sustainably. Our support in this space will help you to consider the changes your institution needs to make to evolve the course portfolio and its delivery – ensuring it can be successful into the long term.

Protecting Inclusion in Times of Change

We recognise that the current operating context can make it additionally challenging to protect and enhance inclusion. Your membership package provides you with a range of essential services, expertise and resources to support your work in this area.

In response to your feedback, we have a key strategic commitment to explore how we could support an integrated approach to equality. Member-led scoping and exploration is underway and will inform the development of a suite of support that we aim to begin testing with members in 2024 – 25.
