Advance HE Membership
Advance HE’s Teaching and Learning Accreditation is exclusively available to institutions with Advance HE Full, Strategic, or Global Membership.
By choosing this package you have access to accreditation services, including a review of an accreditation submission, that can result in the award of the accreditation.
We also provide a range of support to help institutions both enhance their practice and achieve professional recognition for their staff.
The benefits of Accreditation
Accreditation accredits higher education institutions initial and continuing professional development (CPD) programmes against the Professional Standards Framework (PSF). Accreditation brings benefits to both academic staff and to higher education institutions by:
- raising the profile of teaching and learning, and celebrating its importance alongside research activities
- providing a structured approach to the development, recognition and reward of staff who teach and/or support learning
- demonstrating to students a measurable commitment to the quality of teaching
- raising the standards of teaching and encouraging good practice
- enabling staff to gain professional recognition for their successful professional practice as an educator
- making it possible to benchmark provision against internationally recognised quality standards
Using accreditation to support strategic transformation for teaching and learning
It is widely recognised that the PSF is a useful tool in understanding and developing teaching practices. A variety of UK and international higher education providers are represented in this collection. The case studies are written by those responsible for AHE-accredited programmes and by senior leaders with ultimate responsibility for teaching and learning at their institution.
Accreditation Policy, Guidance and Resources
We have curated a number of resources that provide information and resources to support institutions applying for (re)accreditation and successfully managing their accredited programmes.
Resources for accredited provision
Accredited institutions need to operate in line with the annually updated accreditation policy and use the guidance and accreditation submission templates when applying for (re)accreditation. The resources on this page are intended to provide helpful guides for practice, supporting the effective operation of accredited provision.
Advance HE Approval
Accreditation does not cover programmes or resources that are developed for commercial sale by the member institution. Advance HE offers a separate Approvals service for programmes of this nature. Approval differs from Accreditation in that it does not automatically result in participating individuals being awarded professional recognition as a Fellow. Approval is external confirmation that a product/resource is aligned to the PSF and therefore may be used as evidence towards an application for Fellowship.
