18 Sep 2024 | Advance HE Our Global Member Benefits Themes and Collaborative Development Fund are now live.

Advance HE’s 2024-25 Global Member Benefit Themes and Collaborative Development Fund are now live!

Following consultation with the higher education sector, this membership year both our Global Themes and Collaborative Development Fund (CDF) focus on the following areas of challenge:

Each Global Theme is open to all Advance HE members and has a series of projects designed by our expert in-house team, offering outputs and tools to assist our members in implementing practical solutions to navigate the modern HE climate. The CDF gives all Advance HE members the opportunity to apply for grant funding of up to £15,000 to run projects that align directly to this year’s global themes. All themes are applicable to all Advance HE members.

Global Theme: Governing and Leading Transformation

Governing and Leading Transformation aims to generate and share diverse, international insights and lessons from, and for, those overseeing, deciding upon and implementing strategic change. Find out more

Global Theme: Securing Student Outcomes

This theme will help protect the quality of the student experience now, build on our Student Success Frameworks and provide a range of practical, evidence-based resources designed to support success and resilience for students and the change required in member institutions.

This includes anticipating and responding to increasingly complex and challenging demands for student support and effects on student wellbeing. Find out more

Global Theme: Designing Education for the Future

This member benefit theme will provide a future-focused deep dive into dimensions of education of the future, through the lens of future strategy; future institutions; future partnerships; future pedagogy and future workforce.

It will explore new pedagogical approaches and help members realise the potential of artificial intelligence to contribute to effective and efficient education. Find out more

Global Theme:  Protecting Inclusion in Times of Change

Protecting Inclusion in Times of Change aims to help higher education institutions sustain progress on equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) by improving strategic, integrated decision-making and planning among senior leaders, while considering local context and evidence.

Drawing on Advance HE's global membership and partnerships, it will offer practical tools and insights for emerging challenges including support for disabled students, mental health and wellbeing, gender-based violence and developing a holistic approach to EDI. Outputs will range from comprehensive frameworks and guidance reports to worked scenarios and events. Find out more

Launching the Global Themes, Alison Johns, Advance HE Chief Executive, said,

“We consulted across our membership to understand the major challenges facing institutions. We’ve heard clearly that our members are facing significant pressures and demands – from delivering and maintaining excellence in the student experience, to securing long-term financial sustainability. We also know that many of our members are, or will be, implementing major transformation programmes across their operations.

“Our 2024-25 member benefit offer has been developed in direct response to what we have heard. It will bring you and your staff the support and advice you need to position yourself at the forefront of educational innovation and excellence, with help to grow and develop your institution’s leadership capacity, and capability to drive change and shift to new models in a sustainable and inclusive way.”

Collaborative Development Fund

The Collaborative Development Fund is a yearly scheme that offers all Advance HE members the opportunity to apply for grant funding to undertake work on important sector needs and goals. In 2024-2025 we are offering grants of between  £10,000 and £15,000 (inclusive of VAT) across the four global themes detailed above.

Nick Skeet, Director of Membership, Advance HE, said,

“I’m delighted to be launching our Collaborative Development Fund for 2024-25 as we aim to support shared learning and enhancement activity by funding a range of innovative and exciting project initiatives.”

The fund is open for applications from 18 September and will close on 8 November at 23:59 GMT. We will inform all applicants of the outcomes by 6 December.  Find out more
