The case studies were originally presented as workshops and sessions at the Advance HE Assessment and Feedback Symposium in November 2025.
We are delighted to share the 2026 edition of the Assessment and Feedback case study compendium, which brings together case studies from the UK and Australia across four themes. Originally presented in workshops and other sessions at the 2025 Assessment and Feedback Symposium, the case studies have now been collated for wider use across the higher education sector.
The 22 case studies sit under the four themes of the Symposium, which aim to support the sector with the key challenges in assessment and feedback facing institutions today:
- Creating inclusive assessment and feedback design
- Developing authentic assessments for an AI-enabled world
- Engaging students with feedback
- Designing sustainable and workload-aware assessment practices
This collection showcases scholarship and innovative practice from across the global HE sector that has made a demonstrable positive impact on student assessment experience and outcomes. “Authors share insights from their experiences, including lessons learned and practical guidance for colleagues seeking to adapt ideas to their own contexts, enhance learners’ experiences, and remove barriers to attainment. “We would like to thank all contributors for sharing their expertise and experiences.
