Advance HE is launching a brand-new podcast series with a special focus on student success. The first of our monthly episodes – featuring expert hosts and guests – will explore student access, retention, mattering and belonging.
The series aims to explore various aspects of student success, from academic achievement to overall wellbeing. Each month, we’ll delve into a different theme and invite experts from across the higher education sector to contribute their knowledge and experience. Each episode is designed very much like a comfortable conversation – think of them as a chat over a coffee/tea break rather than a formal presentation.
We aim to create a fun, engaging platform where we can share insights, experiences, and best practices across a range of thematic areas that enhance student success. And we’d be delighted to have you as a listener.
What to expect from our episodes
The episodes will have a straightforward and fun format:
- Introductions:Get to know our hosts and guests.
- ‘Edu-biscuit’ icebreaker:All guests will be asked to ‘bring along’ their favourite biscuit, describe it to listeners and to give its dunk-ability rating – these ratings will be kept and will form part of a (very unreliable!) research study that will accompany the series.
- Theme exploration and expert insight:Here we’ll explore the topic under discussion. We’re particularly keen for guests to include recent data and current practices – whether that be sector wide or from their own institution – and to identify any interesting trends they are seeing.
- Top tip:In each episode we’ll ask our guests for their one top tip – a valuable takeaway they would encourage listeners to consider for enhancing student success.
Episodes will run for about an hour and will be conversational and light-hearted, focusing on actionable insights for the HE community.
The series is hosted by Stuart Norton, Senior Consultant, Education at Advance HE, with a rotating cast of Advance HE experts as co-hosts.
