We hosted a celebration for our Advance HE fellows, mentors and reviewers at the Monash Education Academy (MEA).
Fifty dedicated contributors to our taught and experiential accredited pathways gathered for an afternoon of drinks, canapés and, most importantly, vibrant conversation and networking with colleagues who share a passion for education. The evening kicked off with an engaging discussion featuring Professor Allie Clemans (Deputy Vice Chancellor Education), Professor Letizia Gramaglia (Acting Director of Learning and Teaching), and Associate Professor Tim Fawns (Program Lead of the accredited pathways).
Professional Standards Framework 2023
This was a perfect opportunity to announce and celebrate our recent reaccreditation and to socialise the Professional Standards Framework 2023 (PSF2023), emphasising its focus on inclusion and collaboration, and reflecting on its alignment with the Australian Universities Accord statement and the Monash strategic plan.
The conversation also underscored the profound value of fellowship and the PSF at Monash, nationally and internationally.
Adding a personal touch to the event, Dr Mahbub Sarkar (co-lead of our accredited experiential pathway) facilitated a compelling dialogue with two of our mentors, Dr Filia Garivaldis and Dr Josephine Hook, drawn respectively from the academic and professional services community. They shared their inspiring experiences of contributing to institutional efforts to professionalise education through fellowships, highlighting the transformative impact of these programs.
Fellowship mentoring enriches both mentor and mentee, transforming learning and teaching recognition into a shared, rewarding experience. It also offers the chance to give back to a community of inspiring and dedicated colleagues."Monash University
Building and bonding
This celebration not only recognised the exceptional contributions of our fellows and mentors but also reinforced the bonds within our vibrant community. It was a powerful reminder of our shared commitment to fostering a spirit of collaboration and excellence in teaching at Monash.
As we continue to build and support these communities of practice, we look forward to many more such gatherings that inspire, connect, and celebrate our collective achievements in education. Here's to the future of transformative learning and teaching at Monash!
The Monash-Warwick Alliance
Professor Letizia Gramaglia, Head of Academic Development (ADC), University of Warwick and who is an Advance HE Principal Fellow and a National Teaching Fellow, has established a close partnership with the Monash Education Academy. She has contributed to the development of an Advance HE accredited scheme for professional recognition of teaching in higher education.
Commenting on Monash University's reaccreditation, Professor Gramaglia said:
The Monash-Warwick Alliance is a prime example of how international partnerships can transform higher education. This collaboration was key in helping Monash adopt the Professional Standards Framework (PSF) and establish its own Advance HE-accredited scheme in 2019.
"Having worked closely with Monash on their accreditation journey, I’ve seen first-hand their success in integrating the PSF and their dedication to valuing and rewarding exceptional teaching.”Professor Letizia Gramaglia
