Clare Conway is School Director of Learning and Teaching and Senior Lecturer at Kingston School of Art, Kingston University. Drawing on extensive experience in the creative industries, she develops interdisciplinary learning opportunities that connect students, alumni and external partners through collaborative creative practice.
Clare’s work focuses on extending learning beyond the curriculum, creating authentic opportunities for students to engage with complex real-world challenges. Through curriculum enhancement, co-curricular innovation and leadership of initiatives aligned with Kingston University’s Future Skills programme, she enables students to work across disciplinary boundaries and engage with different methods of inquiry, perspectives and forms of knowledge. This approach helps students develop the creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and adaptability needed to navigate an increasingly complex professional landscape.
In 2017, Clare founded Storybox Collective, an interdisciplinary community that brings together students, graduates, staff and external partners through collaborative projects. Through this work, participants engage with diverse forms of knowledge and creative practice, develop professional identities, build lasting networks and gain experience of the portfolio careers that increasingly characterise the creative and cultural sectors.
Clare is committed to fostering inclusive learning communities where students feel a strong sense of belonging and are empowered to shape their own futures. She believes that meaningful learning happens when people come together across disciplines, share different ways of thinking and creating, and build communities that enable both individual and collective growth.
