Sally joined Advance HE’s Equality Charters Team in October 2021 in a new role as Senior Adviser, providing strategic guidance to members on how to use the Athena Swan (AS) Charter effectively as a vehicle for progressive change in gender equality.

Prior to joining Advance HE, Sally was Gender Equality and Athena Swan Policy Adviser at the University of Oxford (2019-21), leading on institutional gender equality plans. During this time, she initiated an EDI Knowledge Hub, a project on ‘What Works for EDI in Research Careers’ to enhance capacity on monitoring and evaluation of EDI interventions and led a communications campaign marking the centenary of women’s formal admission as members of the University.

Earlier in her career, Sally worked as a Researcher both at the University of Oxford and the Institute of Development at the University of Sussex, where she co-convened a MA programme in Gender and Development.

She has worked in various senior policy advisory, management and consultancy roles advising non-governmental and private sector organisations, UN and government agencies, on gender equality and economic and social inclusion.
