The HE community aims for inclusivity but still faces issues in diversity and equality, such as underrepresentation in senior roles, harassment, and a degree awarding gap for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic students in the UK.
Allyship is a key approach to combat these issues and bystander apathy towards them, by fostering support for marginalised groups, reducing discrimination, and strengthening community culture.
Addressing inequality requires active engagement at both individual and systemic levels, and while change will be gradual, everyone has a role in building a more inclusive and welcoming organisation and sector. This commitment led to the development of this course.
This e-Learning course aims to introduce participants to the practice of allyship, providing tips, tools and resources for recognising opportunities for allyship, as well as enacting allyship, at the individual, interpersonal, and organisational levels.
