Nigel Wynne is a Senior Academic in Learning and Teaching in the Faculty of Health at Birmingham City University. Having qualified as a nurse in 1992, he began his higher education career in 2000 and has succeeded in making a major impact on teaching and learning within Health in a relatively short space of time. Nigel passionately believes that in health education better teaching will lead to better care and that teachers have the power to transform lives. A former student, now a professional development nurse, said: "I have developed a love of teaching and wholeheartedly believe it is because of Nigel."

Derek joined the University of Worcester in 2001 as a Lecturer in PE & Sports Studies, having previously completed a PhD in ‘Body fatness and fat distribution during the early years of maturation’ at the University of Exeter in 1995, and having then worked for six years as an Exercise Physiologist in the Public Sector. In his 15 years in the School of Sport & Exercise Science Professor Peters published research across nearly all academic disciplines associated with sport & exercise science and taught research methods modules and training on nearly all of the courses offered within the School at HND, Undergraduate and Taught and Research Postgraduate levels.

Jamie Thompson is a Learning and Teaching Advisor (Principal Lecturer) at Northumbria University. Originally a Probation Officer, Jamie led the tendering process to establish Northumbria as one of the institutions nationally delivering the Probation Qualifying Award for the Home Office. This was cutting-edge work which required the design and delivery of a two-year first degree combined with a vocational qualification. The new programme quickly established a strong reputation with the regional probation services, with the Home Office Training Inspectorate, and with the trainees.

Paul has spent much of his career supporting the learning of experienced postgraduates and professionals. His main aim is to make a difference to learners' lives through a transformative approach to learning. In the early 1990s Paul joined the Human Potential Research Group at Surrey and led the development of the MSc in Change Agent Skills and Strategies, an innovative, advanced programme for consultants and facilitators which has been described as the gold standard in the field.
