While the institution's Board of Governors was broadly representative of the staff BAME population, through ongoing annual reviews of university level committees it was felt more could be done to diversify their membership. To address this, the institution conducted demographic surveys and specifically requested headhunters to provide diversity in candidates. Efforts to also diversify the Executive Board, one of the university’s key committees, has resulted in an almost a doubling in BAME representation since 2016/17.
