Historically there was a slightly lower acceptance rate among females who have received an offer, in comparison to males. It was recognised that the high proportion of male academic and teaching staff might result in a lack of female role models being apparent to students. During open days, the staffing was reviewed to ensure that women are represented among student assistants and the academic talks. There has been a recent increase in the acceptance rates of offers made to female applicants.
