For academic posts, the overall fraction of female candidates shortlisted and subsequently either offered (or appointed to) a position is generally significantly greater than the fraction of female applicants. This high success rate for female academic applicants doubled the total complement of female academic staff between 2009/10 and 2016. On top of encouraging female applications, they also ensure a comfortable and supportive interview setting. For example, it is compulsory that all interview panels must have female representation. In addition, all panellists must have undertaken the University's recruitment and selection course.
