Details of Activity

The School demonstrated clear initiatives to address the low representation of female staff at lecturer level, which included revising its recruitment procedures and postdoctoral career support. Recruitment procedures were revised to highlight positions as collegial and advertise vacancies in groups of at least two lectureships to allow couples to apply. Postdoctoral researchers were encouraged to continue their careers in academia through the establishment of a Postdoctoral Forum, which held grant writing and fellowship meetings.

Outcomes

The School saw an increase in the percentage of female lecturers from 23% in 2006/2007 to 42% in 2011/2012, demonstrating the success of its initiatives.
