Behind the Scenes at the Museum: an account and evaluation of a cross-faculty live client project

This project has been informed and motivated by several complementary learning theories and themes. Students appear to be increasingly strategic and extrinsically motivated in their approach to their studies. Engaging and motivating undergraduates is seen in relation to their aspirations and vocational objectives. Employability and the vocationally relevant transferable skills of team-work project management and communication skills are increasingly being promoted as essential for graduates and therefore as essential components in undergraduate programmes. Government higher education policy is concerned to raise employability and promotes work-based and work-related learning (Little 2006; Moreland 2005).
