Centre for Innovative Construction Engineering (CICE) (an ACBEE case study - phase 1)

Post graduate engineering doctorate

The Centre for Innovative Construction Engineering (CICE) is dedicated to the research & innovation training needs of the construction industry - providing its participants with a vocationally oriented ‘Doctorate of Engineering’ (EngD). Course participants are each funded by a sponsoring construction industry company with whom they work throughout the four-year course. The industrial sponsors propose projects for CICE to recruit a Research Engineer (RE) to undertake. A major benefit to the industrial sponsor is that most of the project work is normally undertaken in the company by the RE. This multi-discipline course is designed to potentially help the doctorate students deliver new ways of working new applications and/or marketable ideas directly into their sponsoring companies’ businesses.
