Changing views of professionalism

The focus of this paper from the Partnership for Professional Enquiry Seminar: 'Constructing Collegiality: Changing the Nature of Leadership in Schools?' Jun 2006 is professional change in the context of achieving Chartered Teacher status (SEED 2002).

The paper draws upon interview data from eight Chartered Teachers who are among the first teachers to have completed through the M.Ed route the Standard for Chartered Teacher (SEED 2002). The data suggests that becoming a Chartered Teacher affords increased agency and this is explored through five themes of communities empowerment confidence ethics of care and reflexivity.
