Cultivating a Community of Assessment Practice to Enhance Students' Academic Performance

Assessment Standards Knowledge exchange (ASKe) is a Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning funded by HEFCE focused on sharing and communicating assessment understandings particularly the often largely tacit perceptions of assessment standards.
ASKe is a centre for excellence in assessment so for many colleagues ASKe's focus on cultivating community seems curious or even off track. However an indispensable condition for students to do well in academic assessment is for them to hold the same conceptions of quality as that of their tutors (Rust et al 2003; Sadler 2008).
