Many dental undergraduates struggle to see the relevance of behavioural and social sciences components to their training as dentists. This experience is shared by medical and nursing students. This presentation documents a research initiative where faculty and students collaborated on a qualitative research project to investigate the opportunities and challenges faced by dental students when studying the social and behavioural science component of their curriculum. The process of staff and students working together as co-researchers will be discussed and the findings of the project will also be presented.
