The initial impetus for the project arose from discussions at a meeting of the North West Staff Developers network regarding the quality of relationships and collaboration between staff developers and HR generalist colleagues. It was clear from comparing the experiences within a very small number of NW HEIs that opinion and views were polarised about how well the relationship worked and that this was indeed a relatively hot topic. This Small Development Project arose from a cross sector investigation and conducted a practitioner based research project.
