Developing Virtual Programming Laboratories to Inform the Pedagogy of Programming

Traditional lectures might be considered inappropriate when teaching computer programming. Kingston University’s Learning Technology Research Group have created web-based virtual programming laboratories providing an analogue of a combination of lectures and hands-on practical exercises. These provide a foundation to investigate pedagogic issues surrounding the teaching and learning of programming.
