This paper examines the results of a survey carried out by the Student Assessment and Classification Working Group (SACWG) as part of their exploration of assessment practice in UK Higher education. The survey attempts to log the range and frequency of the assessment methods used by the History departments. Although a comparatively small sample the data provides a starting point for discussion and reflection.
The aim of the paper is to stimulate debate rather than provide definitive answers.
