Does having a choice in the form of assessment help to promote deep learning amongst students?

This paper explores an innovative approach to assessment which provided students with a choice in the form of written assessment on a taught postgraduate course for new teachers working in Higher Education. It discusses the possible impact of choice in the form of assessment on the students' approach to learning.
