Building on the findings of a study focusing upon the impact of formal work placements on the student experience this paper critiques the pedagogical and practical value of integrated work experience. It proposes a ‘Model of Work-Placement Employability’ empirically grounded in a complex mixture of individual academic and socio-political factors.
