This Engineering Subject Centre commissioned report provides information about the monitoring of changes in A-level mathematics; whether academics are aware of the prior knowledge in mechanics of their intake and what knowledge is assumed when academics teach mechanics to first year engineering students. The report includes results from a schools' survey a first year engineering students' survey and feedback from interviews with academics.
