The Flying Start Project

"Flying Start: Practices Communities and Policies to Ease the Transition to University Writing and Assessment" has been a two year inter-institutional and cross sector project designed to find and evaluate ways of easing transitions in academic writing that students must negotiate if they are to be successful studying at degree level.

The project which ran from August 2008 to December 2010 was one of the National Teaching Fellowship Scheme projects funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) and managed by the Higher Education Academy. It has been a joint initiative between Liverpool Hope University and the University of Derby together with three satellite partner universities: Queen Mary University of London Edge Hill University and Nottingham Trent University.
