Ice-breaker sessions usually inspire terror; increasing use of social networking sites and web 2.0 by students may explain their reluctance to introduce themselves publicly. It may also be a solution. Using e-portfolios in an innovative way during induction for social networking and ice-breaking has benefits beyond PDP and retention.
