Integrated programme assessment (IPA) promotes programme level learning and reduces assessment burden - HEA Annual Conference 2017 - Generation TEF: Teaching in the spotlight

A modular approach to teaching and assessment does not facilitate broad synoptic in-depth learning and students often adopt an in silo approach to their studies. At Brunel we have adopted integrated programme assessment (IPA) on our undergraduate Biomedical sciences programmes to reduce the compartmentalised approach to learning adopted by students on modular programmes and to reduce the assessment load for both staff and students. This interactive session will help colleagues in the sector appreciate how IPA could work for them; it will identify the benefits and explore the perceived barriers to adoption in other institutions.
