'It made me think on my feet' - Encouraging non-written and part-written Assessment

This case study provides insights into a Higher Education Funding Council (HEFCE) funded project in hospitality leisure sport and tourism encouraging lecturers to reflect on alternative forms of assessment which are less dependent on the written word.

The Fund for the Development of Learning and Teaching (FDTL) financed the project during 2004-2008 under FDTL Phase 5 (FDTL5). Lessons learnt from the project which aimed to enhance the student learning experience by encouraging lecturers to develop inclusive modes of assessment which do not rely solely on the written word are presented in this study.
