Literacies supporting learning and enhancing employability in a diverse undergraduate population

This inter-disciplinary project explored how a framework of ‘learning literacies’ can support leaning and enhance undergraduate employability.

It investigated the relationship between the development and application of learning literacies and employability. Literacies included mathematical literacy (use of mathematics) communication literacy (use of reading writing and speech) digital and information literacies (accessing and using information) and emotional literacy (understanding our own and others’ emotions).

The findings make a substantial contribution to the body of knowledge relating to learning literacies within higher education teaching and learning and offer insights into the learning strategies and employment opportunities available to specific minority groups of undergraduates.

This project was led by University of Central Lancashire.
