Making revision seminars more effective

'Revision seminar'...a term that strikes dread into many lecturers signifying an hour of trying to appear helpful while avoiding revealing the answer that everyone wants: what will be on the exam. This miniproject will use information technology to help students think about what they still need to understand to encourage collaborative rather than competitive preparation for exams and to make revision seminars more productive. Students will work in virtual groups using online discussion lists to raise questions and try to answer the questions posed by other groups. This virtual discussion will form the intellectual basis for the revision seminar.
