Millennium Mathematics Project

Imagine that every child’s experience of mathematics was of an accessible inspiring and relevant subject their curiosity about maths and the world around them was encouraged and they felt confident to approach and explore mathematical concepts and to communicate them to their peers and teachers. They would have high aspirations and as adults would continue to enjoy learning about and using maths in their daily lives whether as part of their work or just as a general interest. Imagine if there was no fear or negative stereotype of mathematics and instead there was excitement passion and curiosity about the subject.

This is a vision of what we all would want for our children but how can it be accomplished for every child in the UK without an infinite supply of equally inspired teachers and parents? Could the internet now standard technology in all schools and most homes be used to enhance people’s mathematical experience in a personal and individual way?
