Mindfulness meditation

This case study details an initiative carried out at the University of Wales Institute Cardiff to provide first year Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) students with the opportunity to learn ‘Mindfulness meditation’ in an eight-week course as part of a toolkit for managing the stresses of university life. Given the high rates of stress and burn-out in healthcare professions it was appropriate to offer healthcare and other students the opportunity to have a range of skills to manage their future professional well-being. The initiative was part of a strategy to increase student retention and enhance student well-being.
