Motivating and engaging students in the flipped classroom through the use of team-based learning - HEA Annual Conference 2017 - Generation TEF: Teaching in the spotlight

The aim of this workshop is to introduce a structured approach to flipped learning that motivates students to prepare for class and holds them accountable for their preparation engagement and contribution to team effort. Team-based learning (TBL) dramatically shifts the focus of classroom time away from content delivery by teachers to the application of course content by student learning teams. Class time is spent applying knowledge to solve problems make collaborative decisions and then publically justify and defend their decisions. Participants of this workshop will try out the unique readiness assurance process and an application exercise as used in TBL.
