Preparation for practice: Developing final year Pharmacy students to become a practice-ready workforce using a problem-based learning approach - HEA Annual Conference 2017 - Generation TEF: Teaching in the spotlight

The Integrated Pharmaceutical and Patient Care modules ensure students acquire skills to make them leading pharmacists and to help them to “be the best they can be” through a team-based format in a series of integrated advanced modules. The modules use three innovative assessment approaches in developing practice-ready pharmacists: an oral examination to assess knowledge and ability to provide clinical reasoning and manage pharmaceutical care related issues; a clinical competence assessment of prescriptions for safety and clinical appropriateness; students are involved in peer-teaching of clinical cases to develop their skills as educators in their future assessed via reflective portfolio writing.
