RN medication administration behaviour: lessons for education and practice development - NET2017 Conference

Registered Nurse (RN) medication administration error is a significant cause of avoidable patient harm nationally and internationally despite policy initiatives. A systematic search of international policy and empirical literature identified important features within the existing RN medication administration error literature namely a lack of clarity regarding the term medication administration error and a focus on environment factors to the neglect of person and behaviour factors. Error is however the outcome of behaviour.
