Routes to Employment for Unemployed Graduates

In the academic year 2010/11 the HEA funded Learning and Teaching Enhancement projects in Wales with funding of up to two thousand five hundred pounds per project. The projects covered a range of themes including assessment employability and education for sustainable development.

This project arranged short (two-three) week internships for graduate town planners who had yet to gain employment in town planning. Evaluation focused on (1) whether some qualities associated with employability had been increased in this short period; and if so how; and (2) what the practical (including financial) implications were of running such a scheme jointly between a university and professional body ; (3) the views of participating employers and interns of the value of the scheme.
