A paper from the STEM Annual Conference 2014.
The Flexilevel test is a type of objective test that attempts to match the level of difficulty of the questions administered during a test to the proficiency level of individual test-takers. The work reported here is concerned with a simulation study in which test-taker responses from two summative tests were analysed and used as the basis for a Flexilevel simulation. A Spearman's Rank Order correlation was run to determine the relationship between the CBT and Flexilevel scores; we found a significant correlation between the CBT and Flexilevel scores for both datasets. The implications of these findings in the context of formative assessment are discussed in the concluding section of this paper.
