A presentation from the STEM Annual Conference 2014.
What better way of enhancing employability than treating students as scientific apprentices and engendering within them the whole skill set of a scientific problem solver? This presentation recounts the rationale behind and the pros and cons of introducing a successful experientially based curriculum within the Biological and Biomedical Science Department at Staffordshire University. The ethos was to train the next generation of scientific problem solvers via a predominately practical and workshop based experience. Their scientific expertise and employability together with a general enhancement of the employability skills set were woven together in a design based upon developing a scientific practitioner.
