Student Awards 2008

Details of the 2008 UK Centre for Bioscience Student Award where students responded to the question ' What makes a good bioscience lecturer?'  The award gave students the opportunity to express opinions tell us about their experiences and win up to £300. The winning entries and runners-up can be downloaded.  The annual award started in 2005.

We are delighted to announce the winner of the 2008 competition; Sue Dixon a 2nd year Biomedical Sciences student from the University of Southampton. 

The Student Essay Competition open to all UK higher education students studying a pure or applied biological science aims to raise awareness in the bioscience teaching and learning community of some of the issues affecting students. The competition gives students the opportunity to gain points for their CV stand out from the crowd and win up to £250 for their essay. We hope that the essays provide a useful resource for teaching staff. 

This year we received thirty-six entries the highest number ever of these eight were short listed from which one winner and two runner-up essays were chosen. 

Thank you to all who submitted an essay and congratulations to the winner Sue Dixon the runners-up Stephanie Hay and Kar-Wei Leung and all the short listed entrants. The winning runner-up and short listed essays are available below to download in pdf format.
