Teaching ethics through reality television

Students will discuss clips from reality TV shows in small groups commenting upon the ethical issues these raise. They will then be asked to discuss how they would ethically design a specific psychological research study. Each student will produce a written proposal addressing the ethical concerns.

The quality of these proposals will be compared to that of proposals submitted by the previous year's students as part of their course work. Students will receive feedback on their proposals. The student experience of the exercise will be evaluated.
