This final report details a HEA Islamic Studies Network supported project to identify current curricular practices within those UK higher education institutions which offer undergraduate or postgraduate taught courses in political Islam Islamism and similar expressions of Islamic politics. On the basis of a critical analysis of current curricula and an extensive literature survey the project proceeds to develop a sample syllabus which comprehensively covers political Islam from historical political sociological and faith-based perspectives suitable for teaching at the advanced undergraduate or postgraduate levels. In addition the project collects seminal research articles in a two volume edited collection for easy access for teachers in higher education.
