The resources available on this page were developed by the TQRMUL working group and funded by the Higher Education Academy Psychology Network.
Each of the five interviews with undergraduate students (i.e. ‘Shazia’ ‘Alexander’ ‘Louise’ ‘Trevor’ and ‘Deborah’) on the subject of friendship have been presented in four consecutive sections. These four sections are available in video and audio only formats and are designed to enable both immediate play and download options. They are intended to support the teaching of qualitative research methods and are free to download and use. Transcripts using Jeffersonian and Playscript conventions for each interview are also provided.
The dataset is designed to support analyses using a variety of qualitative analytic approaches (e.g. Grounded Theory Discourse Analysis Conversation Analysis; and Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis). A user guide is also available providing more details on the resources and how to use them. Further detailed information and suggestions on how to use the dataset with specific analytic approaches can be found in the forthcoming book 'Doing qualitative research in psychology: a practical guide' edited by Mike Forrester (Sage publishers).
The interview guide used in the above interviews is also provided.
